2026 Earth Day Cleanup Initiative

Giving Back Locally: Our Earth Day Cleanup with OCRRA

What’s become a meaningful tradition for our team, we spent a Friday afternoon giving back to our community by participating in OCRRA’s annual Earth Day Cleanup initiative in the Village of Manlius.

This year’s crew included returning volunteers Pat and AJ, Christine in her second year, and Dana joining for her first time since becoming part of the team. We really enjoy our partnership with OCRRA for this event because they help make the process easy to accomplish and participate. Once registered, they send you the stickers needed to put on your trash bags and they provide an easy drop off location for the trash you collect! Our cover photo shows us posing in front of said drop off.

A Perfect Day to Make a Difference

We weren’t too sure if rain was in the forecast but as we stepped out, we were thankfully greeted with a lovely day! We started over at Stauffer Swan Pond, which was relatively clean to begin with (nice work, Manlius!) and even got to visit with some friendly ducks swimming around the pond.

After this, our next stop was Fayette Street! We teamed up and two of us took one side of the road and the other two took the other side of the road. You wouldn’t believe the amount of trash that can collect on busy streets. As a team, we like to keep track of our strangest finds and this year would have to be a mud flap off a tractor trailer truck (a heavy find too)!

Covering Ground - Connecting as a Team

After covering a bit of ground on Fayette Street, our last stop was West Seneca Street. This time we travelled one side of the road as a team and then looped back on the other side. One reason we enjoy this cleanup effort is the amount of time we get to spend as a team, chatting and learning more about each other!

The second reason is because we truly believe that small efforts can lead to a big impact, and that’s why we try and include as many volunteer activities as we can in a year.

A Well-Earned Tradition

Another tradition, pizza after cleaning. AJ treated us to lunch at Stingers with some of the best chicken bacon ranch pizza we’ve had. Another great way to spend time as a team, and a good excuse to rest for a bit.

We look forward to where our next volunteer adventure will take us! If you’re interested in sharing suggestions on organizations or causes you personally support or volunteer events you might be participating in, feel free to email us at: info@highpointadv.com. We’re always looking for new ways to support our community.
