What could have been a very different outcome instead became a turning point. Thanks to early detection, and a bit of luck, Pat was given a second chance.He\u2019s been paying that forward ever since.Just one year after his diagnosis, Pat formed his first Heart Walk team, raising over $1,000 in support of the American Heart Association. This put him on the radar of the American Heart Association and he quickly found his way onto the Heart Walk\u2019s Logistics Team. Over the past two decades, Pat and his team have consistently raised between $1,000 and $2,500 each year, contributing to the AHA\u2019s mission of funding lifesaving research, education, and advocacy for heart disease and stroke prevention.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWalking with Purpose in 2026\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThis year\u2019s walk, held on April 12, 2026, brought together more than 2,000 participants at Onondaga Community College. Our HighPoint Advisors team, alongside family and friends, raised over $1,500 and joined the community for the 3-mile route around campus (two laps around OCC).The day started inside the SRC Arena, where participants engaged with interactive exhibits and educational resources focused on heart health and stroke prevention. From there, we stepped outside and into a shared mission, walking not just for ourselves, but for loved ones, clients, and community members impacted by heart disease.Along the route, we were reminded why this matters. Informational stations shared facts, prevention tips, and stories that reinforced the importance of the work being done by the American Heart Association.And as always, the weather kept things interesting, starting off brisk and ending in comfortable spring sunshine, a fitting backdrop for a meaningful day.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe Impact Goes Beyond the Walk\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tTogether, participants raised over $400,000 this year, funds that largely stay local, supporting critical research, education, and advocacy efforts right here in our community.For us, this event is about more than a single day.
